About the Manawa Mill Pond

A flash flood on July 5, 2024 severely damaged the Manawa Dam, which had created the 192-acre Manawa Mill Pond. The failure of the dam sent water rushing down the Little Wolf River, flooding downstream shorelines while draining much of what had once been a lake. Today, much of the former lakebed has become a winding river corridor with exposed shoreline and docks extending over dry ground.

The City of Manawa has been exploring options to restore the dam and bring back the Manawa Mill Pond. More information is available on the city's website.
